Samoa has a very magical place. It takes a bit of courage and sense of discovery to make your way down the wooden ladder (standing at about 25 feet no less) into the natural sink hole that is the To-Sua Ocean Trench and one of Upolu's must see attractions. Located on the South Coast of Upolu it is a bucket list stop on any trip to Samoa. Even if you opt out of the ladder (which you shouldn't really, it's not that bad) To-Sua Trench has beautiful gardens, picnic fales and a coastal walk. It rarely gets super busy (avoid the weekends if you don't want to wait to go up or down the ladder) and is a beautiful spot to spend a few hours. If you're feeling more adventurous, take a local guide and you can also discover lava tubes and secret swim throughs. The view along the dramatic 'Jurassic Park' like coastline alone is worth the $20 WST entry fee. Pop in to Salatoga Sands Resort next door to the Trench for a spot of lunch, a cold beer or a cocktail to finish off your afternoon and we'd say it's a pretty amazing day out. Put it on the list!
